Phase 1: PAIN

When we experience pain, it's a sign or signal that our body sends to tell us something is wrong. When we take medication for our aches and pains, it masks the underlying problem. Just as cutting the wire to a warning light in a car does not fix the vehicle's problem, taking medication for our pain does not correct our health.

Phase 2: The Problem

Many of our every day aches and pains are caused by constant stress on our joints. Things such as accidents, over-use, prolonged sitting or standing, poor posture, tension, lack of exercise and even poor nutrition creates dysfunction within the joints. Emotional stress causes our muscles to tighten up, further contributing to joint dysfunction. Let's face it, we are all subject to the physical and emotional stress. This continually tears down our muscles and joints. Yes, even children!

The stress placed on our spinal bones causes an alteration in normal alignment (normal position) and decreases normal motion of the joints. This condition is called a spinal subluxation. When spinal joints are not functioning properly it leads to pinched nerves, muscle spasm, disc bulges/herniations and arthritic changes. The level of the spine that is subluxated (misaligned) will determine what type of symptoms or pain you experience.

Chiropractic is one of the natural healing tools to correct neuromuscular interference and stress. Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that the nervous system controls the function of every cell, tissue, and organ systems in your body. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord and millions of nerves. The brain is protected by the skull, and the spinal cord is protected by the 24 movable bones (vertebrae) of the spine .

The Doctor of Chiropractic looks for the underlying cause of your problem, which in many cases is a subluxation (misalignment). This can cause nerve interference. The chiropractic approach to better health is to detect and correct subluxations (stuck, misaligned joints) in order to restore normal nerve function.
